Intuitive Doubles

I did not like playing doubles when I developed my game in Germany. I competed in Club matches where I had to play doubles, and I occasionally entered doubles tournaments, but I did not enjoy it that much. I always saw myself as a singles player. However, when I came to the United States to play Division 1 college tennis, under the tutelage of my coach, Mel Purcell, I was forced to play doubles in every practice.

Guess what happened?

I started liking doubles. But simply liking it more did not fix the deficiencies in my game that kept me from excelling in doubles. All the reps of serving and volleying on my first and second serves, trying to react faster at the net, improved my volley game and my reflexes tremendously. As a result of all this hard work, I finished in the top 40 NCCA Division 1 national doubles rankings in my senior year.

When I started coaching full-time shortly after finishing my college tennis career, many of my students were doubles players. Improving my students' doubles games became a major focus, and I spent a couple of decades studying the game of doubles and optimizing my teaching methods. In 2016, I created the Intuitive Tennis Methodology, and in 2018, I started publishing my work online. For those who follow my content, you know I have not released a single video featuring doubles in 8 years.

There is a reason for that. I had to adapt the Intuitive Tennis Methodology to the doubles game, and this took time and research. Doubles is different from singles, but it is also very similar. Contrary to popular belief, doubles, just like singles, has to be played intuitively. Singles players may not necessarily be good at doubles unless they possess key qualities. The good news is that these qualities can be learned.

In the Intuitive Doubles course, I will teach you how to play doubles based on your intuition, highlighting your strengths and hiding your weaknesses while improving key areas of your game that will specifically help you play better in doubles.
